Obituary

Anne McWhinnie Redman, age 90, of Mount Airy, Georgia, completed her earthly ministry and peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at her residence.

Born in Dumbarton, Scotland, on January 1, 1936, she was the youngest daughter of the late James McWhinnie and Jane Morgan McWhinnie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers and 4 sisters. From a very early age, Anne possessed a deep longing to know the way to Heaven. As a young schoolgirl, she often asked her classmates how she could one day be with the Lord. God answered that heartfelt desire through a Worldwide Evangelization Crusade in Glasgow after students from the WEC Missionary Training College knocked on her family's door and invited her to a Gospel meeting held in a nearby Gospel Hall. It was there that Anne came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Savior—a life-changing decision that would shape every chapter of her remarkable journey.

Following her conversion, Anne attended the WEC Missionary Training College in Glasgow before faithfully serving four years as a missionary in Brazil with the Acre Gospel Mission. Upon returning to the United Kingdom to seek the Lord's direction for the next season of her life, she visited the missionary training college where she met, for the very first time, the love of her life, John H. Redman. Their love story blossomed into a lifelong partnership centered on Christ, and they were united in marriage on October 23, 1965.

Together, Anne and John faithfully served the Lord for more than six decades. They ministered for eight years with Radio Worldwide, the radio ministry of WEC International, before following God's call to the Far East Broadcasting Company in Manila, Philippines. During nearly fourteen years of missionary service there, Anne faithfully served as a script writer and program editor. She also became the beloved host of the daily live radio program, Ray of Sunlight. Her broadcasts reached listeners throughout Asia, and countless letters arrived from men and women whose lives had been touched by the Gospel. Many joyfully shared that through her faithful ministry, they had placed their trust in Jesus Christ as Savior.

Anne's greatest calling was not only found across the mission field, but also within the walls of her own home. She was a devoted pastor's wife, a loving and faithful mother to Stephen and Andrew, and a cherished "Short Grandma" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was always open with genuine Christian hospitality, warmly welcoming missionaries, friends, and visitors from around the world.

One of Anne's greatest burdens in prayer was for every member of her family to know Christ personally. She faithfully shared the Gospel with each of her siblings, never growing weary in her witness or ceasing to pray for their salvation. In His perfect grace, the Lord honored her steadfast faithfulness, and Anne rejoiced as each of her brothers and sisters came to saving faith in Jesus Christ. Her life beautifully reflected the virtues of the Proverbs 31 woman—a woman who loved the Lord wholeheartedly, served others sacrificially, and faithfully pointed people to Christ.

Anne was a faithful member of Grace Bible Church in Gainesville, where her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and love for God's Word were evident to all who knew her. Her legacy is one of unwavering devotion to Christ, steadfast missionary service, compassionate hospitality, and a life wholly surrendered to the will of God. Though her earthly ministry has concluded, the eternal fruit of her faithful witness will continue for generations to come.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 61 years, Dr. John H. Redman; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Karyn Redman and Rev. Andrew and Carrie Redman; 16 beloved grandchildren; seven treasured great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of dear friends and brothers and sisters in Christ from around the world.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Hazel Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
