Bolin Sylvester "Syl" Morris

November 14, 1943 — November 30, 2025

Mount Airy

Bolin Sylvester Morris of Mt. Airy, GA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 30, 2025. A beloved husband, dad, and Papa, he lived a life marked by devotion—to his faith, his family, his work, and everyone blessed to know him.

Bolin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sue Nunnally Morris; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tommy Thurmond; granddaughter and her husband, Anna and Glen Bowker; brother and his wife, Gary & Joan Morris, niece and her husband, Sherri and John Dickens; and their children, Ally Grace & Bo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bolin and Mildred Morris, and his brother, Bobby Morris.

Born on November 14, 1943, Bolin proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1968. Following his service, he built a long and dedicated career with Georgia Power Company, retiring after 39 years.

A faithful member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Bolin served as a deacon and treasurer. He also served as a youth group leader and Sunday School teacher, influencing countless lives through his steady guidance and quiet example.

Bolin’s interests were as rich as the life he lived. He was an avid football fan—never missing a chance to cheer on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and spending time outdoors. A talented carpenter, he built various items for his family, leaving behind pieces crafted with both skill and love. He also enjoyed playing softball, earning a reputation as a strong home-run hitter on both his Georgia Power and church teams.

At home, Bolin was known for his soft-spoken kindness, light-hearted teasing, and his unwavering love for those around him. He adored his dogs, Rambo, Chipper and Comet, and took every opportunity to spoil his granddaughter, Anna. Whether he was swimming, riding four-wheelers and tractors, traveling, or simply spending time together, he was the kind of Papa who created lifelong memories.

Bolin will be fondly remembered for his calm spirit, caring heart, strong work ethic, and his willingness to help anyone in need. His presence was a blessing, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to Hospice of Northeast GA Medical Center for all their wonderful care and support.
