Brian Keith Thompson

Brian Keith Thompson, age 68, of Demorest, passed away on September 19, 2025. Born on May 25, 1957, in Staten Island, New York, he will be remembered as a dedicated leader, beloved family member, a man of strong faith, and a cherished friend to many.

Throughout his career, Brian served with distinction as the International Vice President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W). His unwavering advocacy for electrical workers set a standard of excellence, and he became a pillar of strength for those he represented. His commitment to the well-being and progress of his peers was evident in every endeavor he undertook within the union.

Beyond his professional achievements, Brian had a multitude of passions that defined his joyous spirit. An avid outdoorsman, he found great pleasure in hunting and was skilled in woodworking, creating pieces that showcased both his talent and creativity. His love for music was evident in the way he played the drums, expressing himself rhythmically and passionately. Brian was also a devoted sports enthusiast, passionately following Florida State and Miami football. He found joy and solace in watching deer, immersing himself wholly in nature.

Brian leaves behind his cherished wife, Rena Castorina Thompson; his son Chad and daughter-in-law Lucinda Thompson; daughter Dianna Winters; grandson Jared and granddaughter Katlyn; and his beloved niece and her husband, Julie and Shane Griffin, and their children Alex and Joshua Griffin; Two great-grandchildren Leo and Liam. He had a special relationship with Rena's family, including her 3 brothers, Bill, Charlie, and Erik. Including Rena's many nieces and nephews' and especially her niece Lara. He took great pride in his family, nurturing close relationships that were foundational to his life.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents Harold & Dorthey Preston Thompson.

Though Brian's absence will be deeply felt by all who had the honor of knowing him, his legacy as a champion for workers' rights and a loving family man will surely endure in the hearts of those he touched. He will be remembered for his dedication, passion, and the profound impact he made on both his profession and his loved ones.

A celebration of life will be held in January in Florida.
