Carl L. Shoemake, age 88, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025. Born on February 26, 1937, in Memphis Tennessee he was a devoted husband to Faye Shoemake and a loving father to Dale, David and Daryl.
Dad was hard-working and dedicated and served his country in the Air Force for 20 years. He spent another 20 years working for United Moving Van Lines and another several years at Habitat for Humanity before retiring from the work force. He was known for his musical talents and spent several years playing music and singing for his church. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions.
Though Dad may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of character, honor and devoted to his family and friends, and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Dad's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and music, often spending his weekends in the church. His love for family was something he shared with his children, leaving a mark on us that will never fade.
He is survived by his son Dale, wife Teri and his son Daryl, and his wife Elizabeth, as well as his many grandchildren Stephanie, Christopher, David Jr., Josh, Bryce, and Addyson, and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charitable organization of choice.
We find comfort in knowing that Dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
