Catherine Elizabeth Cantrell age 84 of Mt. Airy, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017.
Born in Mt. Airy, GA on February 21, 1933 she was a daughter of the late Harold & Martha Smith. Mrs. Cantrell was a homemaker and a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, and enjoyed flower gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Frank Cantrell; son, David Franklin Cantrell; brother-in-law, Homer Holcomb.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kim W. & Aundrea Cantrell of Mt. Airy; daughter, Denise Cantrell of Mt. Airy; grandchild, Josh Cantrell of Mt. Airy; brother and sister-in-law, Boyd & Floye Smith of Toccoa; sister and brother-in-law, Eugenie & Rev. Billy Burrell of Mt. Airy; sisters, Louise Holcomb, Lenora Smith and Helen Smith all of Mt. Airy; sister-in-law, Jo Cantrell Jordan of Gainesville; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Hazel Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Burrell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Trent Smith officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
