Charles Edwin "Charlie" Norton, 39 and holding, of Homer, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025.

Born on July 15, 1953, in Demorest, he was a son of the late J.D. and Lillie Mae Smith Norton. Charlie retired from Ethicon – Johnson & Johnson with 35 years of service as a needle technician. More importantly, Charlie will be remembered for his walk through this life. To know him was to love him. He was a humble and kind soul. If he could help you or share with you he did without hesitation. Charlie Norton was a lover of life. He had a passion for working hard and living each day. His first love was baseball. He spent much of his youth and early years perfecting his pitching skills as a south-paw and eventually pitched with the minor leagues on various teams. Over the years of his life, Charlie poured into the lives of countless people both on and off the baseball field.  Charlie Norton leaves behind a host of friends and family who will forever treasure his legacy of love and kindness. 

Family members include his daughter, Leah Norton; daughter and son-in-law, Myra Norton Benfield (Doug); son and daughter-in-law, Charles Baynes Norton (Paran); grandchildren, Kendrick Simmons, King Johns, Gracyn Benfield; and Merci Benfield; brothers and sisters-in-law, Reggie Norton (Penny), Eugene Norton and Tony Norton (Cindy); sisters, Edna Lawson (the late Forest) and Ellen Browning (the late Alan); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 08, 2025, at The River Church in Alto, with Bro. Nick Waldon officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 07, 2025, at the funeral home.
