David Mitchell Boyd, age 72, of Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

Born in Fulton County, Georgia, on July 28, 1953, he was the son of the late Norman Boyd and Mary Lee Pritchett Boyd.

Mitchell was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent many years employed with Johnson & Johnson before continuing his career with Unique Refinishers. Following years of faithful service, he retired and enjoyed spending time pursuing the activities and people he loved most.

A devoted member of the community, Mitchell was well known throughout Habersham County for his volunteer service as a coach with the Habersham County Recreation Department. He took great pride in mentoring young athletes and positively impacting the lives of countless children and families through the years.

Mitchell also enjoyed bowling and was especially proud of one of his greatest accomplishments in the sport—achieving a perfect 300 game, a milestone that reflected both his skill and dedication.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Ellen Rebecca Hammond Boyd.

Survivors include his daughter, Heather Boyd; son and daughter-in-law, Chris & Brandy Boyd; stepdaughter, Alyssa Lawson; grandchildren, Grayson Boyd, Kelsie Star, Mckinley Ellis, Jake Evans, Savannah Boyd, Natalie Boyd, and David C. Lawson; great grandchildren, Madelynn, Malekai, Syrus, Bentley, and Jacey; sister and brother-in-law, Norma & Michael Collins; niece, Jessica Collins; numerous extended relatives and friends.

In accordance with his wishes, Mitchell will be cremated and the family will hold services at a later time.
