Born in White County on April 13, 1941, he was a son of the late Gus Helton and Azzie Jane London Helton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mollie Ramey Helton; brother, Terrell Helton; sisters, Florence Freeman and Dorothy Howard.
Surviving are step-daughter and husband, Maggie & Grover Nelms of Demorest; sisters, Ann Helton of Clayton and Josephine Maxwell of Gainesville.
Graveside services are 11:00 Friday, November 20, 2015, at the Nelms Family Cemetery. All friends and family are requested to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 am Friday.
