Grace Elizabeth Dean McCallister, age 82 of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017 at her residence.
Born in Habersham County, Georgia on September 3, 1934 to the late Roy Lee and Bessie Irene Ballew Dean. Mrs. McCallister was a seamstress with Carwood Manufacturing for 44 ½ years. She enjoyed sewing, reading and flowers. Mrs. McCallister was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brothers, Ray Dean and Garnett Dean; sisters, Lessie Wade and Mae Ellison.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Ray & Brenda McAllister of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Connie Savage, Tracie Savage and Chris McAllister; 7 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; brothers, David Dean of Silvis, IL; sister, Hazel Kimbrell of Cornelia.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Sunday, September 3, 2017 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Chris York officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Butch Franklin officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
