Howlett “Marshall” Herrin, age 84, of Cornelia, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 24, 1942, Marshall was the son of the late John Herrin and Effie Watson Herrin. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a man who took great pride in providing for his family. Marshall was also the last surviving member of his family’s eleven brothers and sisters.
For more than 30 years, Marshall was the proud owner and operator of Herrin Hauling, a business he built through years of hard work, dedication, and determination. His strong work ethic and commitment to his family reflected the kind of man he was.
Marshall proudly served his country in the United States Army. In his free time, he enjoyed watching NASCAR and always had a special way of pulling for the rookie driver. He also occasionally enjoyed sitting down to watch a good football game. Above all, Marshall treasured the time he spent with his family and the memories they made together.
Marshall will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Carolyn McEntire Herrin; daughters, Melinda Herrin Church and Crystal Herrin; grandchildren, Krissy Herrin, Dillon Coleman and his girlfriend Tiffany Gilliland, Reagan Denson, Jordan Herrin, and Clay Herrin and his girlfriend Natalie Jones; along with other relatives and friends who were blessed to know him.
Marshall leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and dedication that will live on in the hearts of his family. Though he is no longer with them, the memories he created and the love he shared will forever remain.
Memorial Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and McEntire Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Wade officiating and military honors provided by the Grant-Reeves Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the service hour on Friday, October 9, 2026.
