John Perkins passed away and left his Earthly body on Friday, September 5, 2025.

Born John Seaborn Perkins, Jr. on October 28,1937, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was the only son of the late Emi Lee Perkins Waring and John Seaborn Perkins, Sr.

John spent most of his childhood living in Spartanburg and Savannah. He often shared fond memories of his visits with the big Perkins family in Cornelia.

John graduated from Savannah High School and went on to Armstrong State and Wofford College for his Undergraduate studies. He completed his MBA at the University of Alabama.

After receiving his Masters, John worked for the CPA firm then known as Haskins and Sells. He then went on to a long career in commercial real estate serving as financial officers for Cousins Properties and Ackerman Realty in Atlanta. John finished his career with his own business, Perkins and Associates, as an Executive Recruiter.

John was always a sports enthusiast. He played handball, racquetball and loved golfing with his good friends. He was an avid Alabama football fan. His true passion was running having completed thirty Peachtree Road Races and five Boston Marathons.

He shared this joy and passion for running as a Cross Country and Track Coach at Habersham Central for over ten years. He loved seeing these student athletes set and achieve their goals and find success.

In 1981, John met the love of his life, Carol. They married in 1988. Theirs was a deep, quiet, abiding love grounded in love and respect.

John and Carol moved from Atlanta to Habersham County in 1993, where they found a community that came to be their treasured home. They loved hiking the beautiful trails, camping, and finding the backroads in their Jeep.

John will always be remembered as a loving, caring and kind man. He was a Champion for those who needed support, and he always sought the best in everyone.

Memorial services are 3 pm on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & McEntire with Dr. Phil DeMore officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until the service hour on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the funeral home with a reception to follow the service.
