Joyce “Pete” Galloway Abbott, age 68, of Cornelia, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 18, 1957, Pete was the daughter of the late Donald Galloway and Valerie Lathan Galloway. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy in life came from the people she loved most.

Pete cherished her family and treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. She was happiest when surrounded by those she loved, making memories and sharing the simple moments that become the most precious ones. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and the love she gave them will remain a lasting part of their lives.

Pete also had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. She enjoyed spending time outside and taking in the beauty of nature. By her side was her beloved dog, Copper, who was a faithful and cherished companion.

Pete is survived by her son, Rocky Williams and his wife Valeria; daughter, Wendy Burton and her husband Chuck; brothers, Junior “Toad” Galloway and Mack Galloway and his wife Missy; sisters, Gale Loggins and her husband Larry and Brenda Dodson; grandchildren, Zachary Williams and his wife Brae, Chesney Burton, Lexus Burton, Brantlee York, and Bo Luke Williams; along with other extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Pete leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love. Though her family will deeply miss her presence, they can find comfort in knowing that the love she gave so freely will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2026, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & McEntire Funeral Home with Rev. Austin Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazel Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Chad Parham officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour on Monday, September 14, 2026.
