Obituary

Judy Gail Holtzclaw Higginbotham, age 68, of Alto, Georgia, peacefully departed this earthly life and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

Born in Gainesville, Georgia, on October 24, 1957, Judy was a daughter of the late Charles Holtzclaw and Blondine Anglin Holtzclaw. She was a graduate of East Hall High School and devoted much of her life to being a loving homemaker, creating a home filled with warmth, cherished memories, and the love of family.

Judy found happiness in life's simple pleasures and especially treasured the moments that brought her family together. She enjoyed riding horses, crocheting, and spending time doing the things she loved. Among her fondest memories were the many times she went skating with her children as they were growing up. Those special moments of laughter, togetherness, and childhood adventures became precious memories that her family will carry in their hearts forever.

Above all else, Judy's greatest joy and most treasured blessing was her family. Whether sharing an ordinary day, enjoying a family gathering, or simply being surrounded by those she loved, she found her greatest contentment in the presence of her loved ones. Her life was a beautiful reminder that the most meaningful treasures are not found in material things, but in the love we give, the memories we make, and the lives we touch along the way.

Judy was of the Baptist faith, and her family finds comfort in the blessed assurance that her earthly journey has ended, but her Heavenly home is eternal. Though her presence will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the precious memories she leaves behind will remain a lasting part of her family's lives.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her brother, A.J. Holtzclaw; and her son-in-law, John Marshall.

Survivors include her loving husband of 14 years, William Thomas Higginbotham, Jr.; son, Michael Holtzclaw; daughter, Kimberly Marshall; step-sons, William Higginbotham, Joshua Higginbotham, and Charlie Higginbotham; brother, Raymond Holtzclaw; sisters, Brenda Sutton and Lynn Allen; grandchildren, Ryan Wade, Austin Holtzclaw, Felicity Marshall, Jasper Holtzclaw, Kelsey Marshall, Cameron Marshall, and Shyanne Holtzclaw; great-grandchildren, Maya Ashburn, Axel Adams, and John Marshall, II; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

In accordance with Judy's wishes, cremation will take place, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Family and friends will have an opportunity to gather, share treasured memories, and honor a life that meant so much to those who knew and loved her.

"Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." – Matthew 5:4 (KJV)
