Leila Wilbanks Mcdowell

Leila Wilbanks McDowell, age 71 of Baldwin, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018.

Born in Commerce, Georgia on April 20, 1947 to the late Telford and Elizabeth Ostine Smith Wilbanks. Ms. McDowell was an active member at Free Chapel where she was part of the prayer connection group. She enjoyed ministering through the Prison Ministry Crocheting Class. Ms. McDowell enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading her Bible and writing, especially poetry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Priscilla Waters.

Surviving are her son, Greg Cantrell of Baldwin; daughters and son-in-law, Lesa & Tim Champion of Baldwin and Amy Cantrell of Macon; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren with 2 on the way; brothers, Ronnie T. Wilbanks of Charlotte, North Carolina, Timothy Lee Wilbanks of Naples, Florida, Stephen Keith Wilbanks of Baldwin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Paula & Ken Hudgins of Gainesville, Sylvia Mason of Baldwin, Elaine & Ross Maxwell of Baldwin, Joan & Bobby Bradley of Rockmart, Phyllis & Fred Johnson of Baldwin, Rosemary & John Williams of Baldwin, Karen & Sam Graves of Fayetteville; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 am, Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Free Chapel. Interment will follow at Broad River Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
