Lenita Bailey Tweedell Callahan, age 78, of Homer, Georgia, took her heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 4, 2026.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 14, 1947, Lenita was a daughter of the late Robert Jefferson Tweedell and Jewel Christine Bailey Tweedell.

Lenita was a devoted homemaker whose greatest joy was found in loving and caring for her family. She was a wonderful mother, Mamaw, and Great-Mamaw, and the memories she created with those she loved will remain a treasured part of her legacy for generations to come. Lenita was of the Baptist faith and carried a quiet love for the Lord throughout her life.

She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time outdoors and caring for her beloved animals. Lenita also enjoyed watching the fish in her aquarium and was always ready for the excitement of Friday night lights and high school football. Above all, nothing brought her greater happiness than time spent surrounded by her family.

In addition to her parents, Lenita was preceded in death by her loving husband, Cecil Tony Callahan & by her son, Cecil Kelly Callahan; as well as two siblings.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Casey & Eric Bennett; son, Todd Callahan; grandchildren, Kadi Yeh, Bryce Bennett (Sophie), Hollie Hinley, Jace Bennett, and Mason Callahan; great-grandchildren, Gennie & Kenny Yeh and Birdie Blue Bennett; brother, Bobby Tweedell; sisters, Lane McDuffie and Sherrie Norris; as well as many other relatives and friends.

In accordance with Lenita’s wishes, she will be cremated, and no formal services are planned.
