Mrs. Louise Lathan Allen, age 90, of Mount Airy, Georgia, took her heavenly flight home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 29, 2026.
Born in Mount Airy, Georgia on November 11, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Dawson Lathan and Dorothy Cash Lathan.
Louise faithfully dedicated many years of service to Scovill Manufacturing before her retirement. She was a devoted member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church, where she especially cherished attending her Sunday School class and the sweet fellowship she shared with her church family.
Louise found great joy in life's simple blessings. She loved traveling with her family, treasured her Friday hair appointments, and never turned down the opportunity to enjoy a good meal at one of her favorite restaurants—especially if dessert was on the menu. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and loving heart made every gathering brighter. More than anything, Louise treasured the time she spent with her family, creating memories that will forever be held close by those who loved her. Her legacy is one of faith, kindness, and unwavering love, and she leaves behind a lifetime of cherished moments that will continue to inspire her family for generations to come.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene "Gene" Allen; daughter, Jeanettie Lathan Oliver; sisters, Valerie Galloway and Betty Gosnell; daughter-in-law, Tammy Allen; brothers, Carl Lathan and E.J. Lathan; and brothers-in-law, Donald Galloway and James Gosnell.
Survivors include her loving son, Doug Allen; granddaughters, Rhonda Herbert and Hannah Hunsucker (Tristan); great-grandchildren, Taylor Parson, Trisha Holt (Jacob), Lycan Arrendale, Noble Arrendale, Shiloh Arrendale, Winter Arrendale, and Navy Hunsucker; great-great-grandson, Jake Holt; sisters-in-law, Mildred Lathan and Sarah Lathan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2026, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & McEntire Funeral Home with Rev. Trent Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Hazel Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
