Maxine Johnson Crump, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on February 23, 1934, Maxine lived a life filled with passion, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her family and interests.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Crump, and her daughter, Barbara Sue Crump Martin. As the last surviving member of her immediate family, she carried forward the legacy of love and generosity instilled in her throughout her life.
A woman of many interests, Maxine had a profound passion for Nascar racing, particularly admiring the talents of Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty. Her enthusiasm for this exhilarating sport reflected her spirited personality and zest for life. In her quieter moments, Maxine found great joy in crocheting, a pastime that allowed her to express her creativity and create beautiful pieces that her family will cherish forever. Additionally, she enjoyed collecting frogs, a hobby that brought a touch of joy to her life.
Maxine is survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends, all of whom will remember her warmth, kindness, and kind spirit. Her memory will be forever honored and cherished by those whose lives she touched.
A graveside service to celebrate Maxine’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Yonah Memorial Gardens in Demorest, Georgia. The service will begin at 2:00 PM, with family and friends gathering to pay tribute to a remarkable woman who will be missed dearly.
