Churchill
Jan 16, 1953 — Oct 4, 2026
Demorest, Georgia
Sunday
Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & McEntire Funeral Home
Starts at 2:00 pm (Eastern time)
Patrick Robert “Pat” Churchill, age 73, of Demorest, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Born in Portland, Oregon, on January 16, 1953, Pat was a son of the late Jack Wellington Churchill and Edna Marie Callahan Churchill. From the Pacific Northwest to the mountains of Northeast Georgia, Pat built a life filled with hard work, laughter, family, and countless memories that will continue to be treasured by those who knew and loved him. Pat began his working career with General Electric in Portland, Oregon, specializing in hydroelectric power. His career took him to numerous dams throughout the country, where his knowledge, skill, and strong work ethic served him well over the years.
While Pat took pride in his work, his greatest joy was always found in the people he loved. He possessed a wonderful wit and an unforgettable sense of humor, and he took great pleasure in keeping his family on their toes with his daily jokes, quick remarks, and good-natured challenges. Whether his loved ones were on the West Coast or the East Coast, the distance never diminished the tremendous love Pat had for his family.
At home, Pat proudly held one of his favorite titles—“pool boy.” He enjoyed spending time around his swimming pool, keeping everything just right while listening to his favorite music and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Pat was also a skilled BBQ chef who knew his way around the grill and smoker. That special talent became part of his legacy when he passed his knowledge and love of BBQ along to his son, Patrick. Those meals, conversations, laughs, and times spent together will remain precious memories for years to come.
Above all, Pat was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, caring brother, and loyal family man. For 42 years, he shared life’s journey with his beloved wife, Ava. Together they built a beautiful life and family that became Pat’s greatest accomplishment and most treasured blessing. His humor, personality, love, and presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to bring smiles even through the tears.
In addition to his parents, Pat was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Marie Churchill Harding.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Ava Christine Likes Churchill; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick Alan & Julie Churchill; daughter and son-in-law, Carrie & Jeremy Benfield; brother, Michael Jack Churchill; grandchildren, Levi Churchill, Patrick David Churchill, Hannah Churchill, and Lexi Churchill; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of Pat’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & McEntire Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Franklin officiating.
A reception will follow the service at The Torch Worship Center, 800 Cannon Bridge Road, Demorest, Georgia 30535, where family and friends may continue sharing memories and celebrating a life that meant so much to so many.
