Obituary

Peggy Lynn Zimmerman Carter, age 75, of Mount Airy, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

Born in Clarkesville, Georgia, on July 27, 1951, Peggy was a daughter of the late Woodrow Zimmerman and Reba Simmons Zimmerman. She retired from Mount Vernon Mills following many years of dedicated service.

Peggy will be remembered as a loving and giving woman whose greatest joy was found in caring for those around her. She had a servant’s heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand in any way she could. Above all, Peggy treasured her family and especially cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She loved to travel, and some of her happiest memories were made on road trips with her family. Peggy also expressed her love through the many wonderful meals and treats she prepared. Her family will fondly remember gathering around her table and will especially miss her homemade dressing, apple pies, and delicious fudge. Those familiar recipes and the memories made while enjoying them will remain treasured parts of her legacy.

Peggy loved the Lord and her church family and was a faithful member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Baldwin. Her life was marked by love for her family, kindness toward others, and a willingness to give of herself. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that she has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Carter; and sister, Pat Pruitt.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Troy Tucker; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Amanda Caudell; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Robert Reepe; brothers and sisters-in-law, Perry and Beth Zimmerman and Preston and Cynthia Zimmerman; grandchildren, Jessica and Josh McDaniel, Laura Tucker, Ashton Caudell, Abby and Danny McDuffie, and Ariel Caudell; great-grandchildren, Konnor Tucker, Kaylynn Tucker, and Elliot McDuffie; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2026, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & McEntire Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Purcell officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery in Baldwin.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026.
