Roy Merrifield

Roy Leslie Merrifield of Alto, GA, passed away on March 9, 2026, at the age of 79. 

Roy was excited to enroll in biblical studies in his twenties, first attending the theological seminary at Newbold College in England and then obtaining a Master of Divinity degree at Andrews University in Michigan. He then had a long and successful career as a Seventh-day Adventist pastor at churches throughout Florida and Georgia, most recently serving as the pastor of the Habersham Seventh-day Adventist Church in Mt. Airy, GA.

For decades, his parishioners appreciated his powerful and memorable sermons. He loved golfing with his friends, doting on his grandkids, and reminiscing about his old friends and his time in England.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Ron Merrifield and Ross Merrifield, his wife, Gina, and his grandson, Peyton Erwin. He is survived and missed by his sister, Kimberly (Welch) Hill; his children, Eric Merrifield, Robin Merrifield, and Crystal Erwin; and his grandchildren, Kieran Merrifield, Lucas Erwin, Brayden Erwin, and Paisley Erwin.

A celebration of Roy’s life and friendships will be announced separately. In lieu of flowers, please remember Roy and give generously to Adventist World Radio (AWR.org).
