Obituary

Shannon Smith Findley, age 56, of Clayton, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

Shannon was born on July 10, 1969, in Simpsonville, South Carolina, to Michael R. Smith and Jan Clark Smith. Throughout her career, she worked at the Rabun County Public Library, Ridgecrest Hospital, and the Rabun County School System, where she served as a paraprofessional. Shannon had a love of reading and was also an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan who faithfully cheered them on. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her family and those she loved.

In addition to her parents, Shannon is survived by her husband, Kenny Findley; her three daughters, Ashleigh Wilson (Tyler), Whitney Gragg (Jacob), and Kendra Gragg (Brent Lee); her cherished grandchildren, Quinton Wilson, Raelyn Wilson, Mason Henderson, and Austin Henderson; her siblings, Shane Smith (Teresa) and Stacie Smith; her mother-in-law, Glenda Findley; her nephews, James Dills (Bonnie), Sean Smith (McKayla), and Chandler Stewart; as well as four aunts and four uncles.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Sheltering Arms Gospel Tabernacle with Rev. Jeff Houston, Rev. Sam Manus, and Rev. Marvin Reid officiating. Interment will follow at Rocky Grove Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 12:00 PM until the service hour at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to Hunter Funeral Home to help offset the cost of funeral expenses. Donations may be delivered to Hunter Funeral Home, 423 Warwoman Road, Clayton, GA 30525, or mailed to P.O. Box 653, Clayton, GA 30525.

The family will be gathering at the house of Mike and Jan Smith, 71 Old Mill Lane, Clayton, GA 30525.
