Obituary

Stella Holcomb Gragg, age 87, of Clarkesville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Born on July 19, 1938, in Tiger, Georgia, Stella was the daughter of the late Sylvia "S.B." Holcomb and Ellie Tyler Holcomb. She was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Chester Thomas Gragg, faithfully serving alongside him throughout his ministry as a devoted pastor's wife. Stella dedicated her life to caring for her family as a loving homemaker, creating a home filled with warmth, faith, and hospitality.

A woman of unwavering faith, Stella was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved and delighted in spoiling. She was also well known for her wonderful home-cooked meals and the love she shared through her cooking. Her gentle spirit, servant's heart, and steadfast devotion to her family and church will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband and parents, Stella was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Lynn Deyton;  her brothers, Doyle Holcomb, Earl Holcomb, and Donald Holcomb; and her sisters, Vera Veal, Mozelle Pike, Janie Gosnell Rose, and Sylvia Bearden.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Keith Gragg (Sherri) of Hayesville, North Carolina; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharlotte Vandiver (Brian) of Carnesville, Karen Hunt (Bruce) of Clarkesville, and Cindy Brady (Bo) of Baldwin; grandchildren, Wyatt Clarkson, Jessica Bragg, Jamie Gibby Chastain, Sarah Thomas, Stephen Thomas, Carmon Brady Evans, and Ashlyn Brady; nine great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; brother and sister-in-law, Ray Holcomb (Beverly); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are 2 pm on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & McEntire, with Rev. Ronnie Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the funeral home.
