Tommy England, 74, of Cornelia, Georgia, and a longtime resident of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on August 8, 2026.

Tommy was born in Winder, Georgia, at Winder-Barrow Hospital to the late Louie Dean England and Elbert England. He grew up surrounded by family and spent much of his childhood working alongside them on the family farm in Flowery Branch, Georgia. Those early years helped shape the strong work ethic, generosity, and love for family that he carried with him throughout his life. 

For many years, Tommy worked as a metal worker, working hard to provide for the family he loved so deeply. He was a generous man who was always willing to lend a hand and help the people he cared about. Whether through hard work, his time, or simply being there when someone needed him, Tommy had a way of showing his love through what he did for others. 

Those who knew Tommy will also remember just how much he loved to laugh—and how much he loved making everyone else laugh along with him. He was known for his sense of humor, his practical jokes, and the pranks he loved to play on unsuspecting friends and family. His unmistakable laugh could light up a room, and the sound of it will remain a treasured memory for those who loved him. 

Tommy loved the outdoors and appreciated life’s simple pleasures. He could often be found in his cowboy boots, which became as much a part of him as his humor and warm personality. He also treasured quiet days spent at home with his beloved dogs, Maisy and Boone.

Above all, Tommy loved his family, his faith, and the people God placed in his life. As a man of faith, he enjoyed serving with Georgia Mountains Tres Dias, where he helped others grow in their faith and deepen their walk as members of God’s Kingdom. Serving and encouraging others was a natural extension of the generous spirit he showed throughout his life.

Tommy leaves behind his children, daughter Consuela Pierson and son Thomas James England; his grandchildren, Krista Bishop, Halli Mainor, Skarlet Pearson, and Savannah Thomason; his brothers, David Dewayne England and Jerry England; his sisters, Teresa England and Regina Phillips; as well as extended family, friends, and loved ones who will carry his memory with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie Dean England and Elbert England; his sister, Carol Murphy; and his brothers, Dwight England and Jimmy Roger England.

Tommy’s life was marked by hard work, generosity, faith, family, and plenty of laughter. He leaves behind memories of practical jokes and days spent outdoors, a lifetime of helping those he loved, a well-worn pair of cowboy boots, and a laugh his family will never forget. 

Though he will be deeply missed, the laughter, love, and kindness Tommy gave so freely throughout his 74 years will continue to live on in the family and friends who were blessed to know and love him.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & McEntire Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Smith, Mr. Dewayne England, and Mr. Jerry England officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour on Saturday.
