Verena Ausburn

Verena Brown Ausburn, age 82, of Cornelia, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

Born on January 22, 1941, in Cornelia, she was a daughter of the late Anderson Robert Brown and Alice Hortense Murphy Brown. Mrs. Ausburn worked at Habersham Medical Center and Magnolia Hills for a number of years. She loved flowers, raising cattle, and discussing the Bible. Verena was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Neil Ausburn and sisters, Fredeva Brown and Velzie Brown.

Survivors include her son, Cale Ausburn of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Kenree Sampson (Michael) of Cornelia; step-grandsons, Justin Sampson (Shannon) and Nathan Sampson (Ashley); step-great-grandchildren: Rebecca, Jordan, and Emma; and several cousins.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Michael Sampson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home.
