Violet Myers Waldon, age 93, of Alto, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 2, 2026.
Born in Alto, Georgia, on May 14, 1933, Violet was a daughter of the late William Mack Myers and Emmer Ethel Wade Myers. A lifelong resident of the community she dearly loved, Violet lived a beautiful life marked by faith, devotion to family, hard work, and a genuine servant’s heart. Violet began her working career with Yonah Realty Manufacturing and later joined Mount Vernon Mills, where she devoted more than 40 years of faithful service. She was known throughout her life for her strong work ethic and her willingness to care for those around her.
Away from work, Violet found great joy in the simple things that made a house feel like home. She enjoyed crocheting, tending to her beautiful rose gardens, collecting recipes, and adding special pieces to her collection of Depression glass. She was also a wonderful cook, and her family will especially miss gathering around her table for her famous dressing and gravy and her delicious fried apple pies. Those treasured recipes, along with the memories made in her kitchen, will continue to be passed down through the generations.
Above everything else, Violet’s greatest earthly treasure was her family. Caring for them was never a burden, but one of the greatest joys of her life. She was the loving wife of Gaines Lewis “Bud” Waldon for 72 wonderful years, and together they built a home filled with love, faith, music, and countless precious memories.
Southern Gospel music also held a special place in Violet’s heart. Her family, affectionately known as “The Bud Waldon Family Singers,” traveled and sang Southern Gospel music, and Violet faithfully traveled alongside them. Whether making sure everyone had what they needed or simply offering her encouragement and support, she was always there behind the scenes, helping make each journey possible.
Perhaps one of the greatest testimonies of Violet’s life was her unwavering love for the Lord and His church. At just 11 years old, she became a member of Alto Congregational Holiness Church in 1944, beginning a faithful church membership that would span more than eight decades. Her church was much more than a place she attended—it was part of her life, her family, and her testimony. She loved her church tremendously and remained devoted to it throughout the years.
In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, Gaines Lewis “Bud” Waldon.
Survivors include her children, Nick & Carolyn Waldon, Ginger Waldon, and Misty & Shane McEntyre; sister, Hazel Turner Howard; grandchildren, Megan & Bryan Ivie, Kyle & Emilee Waldon, Zach & Ashley Lewis, Liza & Caleb McAllister, Alex McEntyre, and Lauren & Austin Naab; great-grandchildren, Clark & Kara Ivie, Isaiah & Maelee McAllister, Layton & Benjamin Lewis, and Gaines & Maggie Waldon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of dear friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Alto Congregational Holiness Church, with Rev. Scott Ledbetter and Rev. Leon Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, with Rev. Donald Wade officiating at the graveside.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made in Violet’s memory to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Suite 222, Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
The Waldon family would also like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center for the exceptional compassion, kindness, and loving care extended to Violet and her family during her illness.
Violet leaves behind far more than memories. She leaves a legacy of faith, family, service, music, and love—a legacy that will live on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, church family, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her. After 93 years of loving her family, serving others, and faithfully walking with the Lord, she has now made that final journey home.
