Walter Maxwell King, age 51, of Alto, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 15,2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on August 2, 1975, Walter was the son of Jimmy Maxwell King and the late Karen Thomas King. Walter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother whose greatest joy in life was his family.

Walter enjoyed spending time outdoors and fishing, where he could relax and enjoy the simple things in life. He was a devoted Georgia Bulldogs fan and loved cheering on the Atlanta Braves. Above all else, Walter cherished his children and grandchildren. The time he spent with them created memories that will be treasured by his family for generations to come.

Walter will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Haley King; his father, Jimmy King; his son, Christian King & wife Lana; his daughter, Lauren King; his brother, Mitchell King; and his grandchildren, Nailah Walker and Koen King.

Though his time with us was far too short, Walter leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, memories, and moments that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His family finds comfort in knowing that the love he gave so freely will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, and everyone whose life he touched.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2026, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & McEntire Funeral Home with Rev. Wes King officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt Zion Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, and again from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
